In the Spring of 1997 I was twenty years old and a junior at UC Santa Barbara.

While serving as an elected campus representative on the Legislative Council, I decided to run for Student Body President.

The school newspaper - The Daily Nexus - asked all the candidates to submit a candidate statement to be printed the week of the election.

Eight other candidates.
Made it down to the final two.
Lost in the run off.
